A practical customer handoff

Leave a working system.
And a plan to live with it.

Make monitoring, household orientation, and clear follow-up expectations part of commissioning. Start with one customer and a handoff you can repeat.

Installer-led. Owner-controlled.

You help configure monitoring. The owner controls billing, plan choices, and whether your access continues.

Before you leave

Four things to complete together.

  1. 01

    Confirm the connection.

Check compatibility, connect the supported system, and validate the first readings. Explain where the data comes from and how to recognize an old or unavailable reading.

  2. 02

    Set meaningful thresholds.

Review Low Battery Alert and Critical Battery Alert thresholds against the installed system and its backup plan. If the owner chooses Pro, discuss a High Load Alert limit appropriate to the installation.

  3. 03

    Check who receives what.

Confirm authorized recipients and their notification settings. Verify delivery using the supported setup flow. Explain the difference between homeowner notifications and managed installer email.

  4. 04

Invite the owner. Explain the decisions.

After readings and alert coverage are confirmed, send the owner invitation. Walk the household through billing ownership, alert meaning, flexible loads, and the response plan for low reserve.

This monitoring checklist complements the installation’s technical commissioning and operating instructions.

Make the notification plan explicit

The customer’s alerts.
Your agreed involvement.

For the household

Free Safety Net provides hourly checks and Low Battery Alert and Critical Battery Alert email delivery. Pro adds five-minute checks, High Load Alert, and SMS for eligible alerts with verified recipient enrollment.

Explain that scheduled checks are not continuous protection. Choose recipients who know the system’s response plan.

Compare customer plans

For the installer

With the owner’s permission, managed installer delivery covers Low Battery Alert, Critical Battery Alert, and critical recovery confirmation by email. It does not include High Load Alert or SMS.

Agree on when you are available and what follow-up you offer. The owner can stop installer alert emails or revoke installer access.

After the handoff

Stay close while
the habits take shape.

Offer a follow-up arrangement that fits your business and the customer’s needs. A short conversation about a real event can make the operating plan easier to remember.

A first-month arrangement is agreed between you and the owner. Ungrid does not automatically schedule support, expire installer access after 30 days, or provide a 24-hour installer response service.

  1. The first few weeks

Turn a signal into a lesson.

Discuss what was happening, which loads could wait, and what the customer did next. Include everyone who regularly operates the household.

  2. Around 30 days

    Review the arrangement.

Revisit thresholds and notification settings. Decide together whether installer involvement continues, and have the owner update access if needed.

  3. Before the first winter

    Prepare for a different season.

Review expected solar, flexible consumption, critical loads, and the backup plan before the familiar summer pattern changes.

A useful final question: “If this alert arrives tomorrow, what will you do?”

Walk through the three customer scenarios

Ungrid provides read-only monitoring and guidance. Checks are periodic and depend on available data and connectivity. Ungrid does not control equipment or replace installed protection systems and the customer’s backup plan.
